COOKOUT BENEFIT FOR ABBY BAILEY
A Drive-Thru Cookout Fundraiser will be held on Dr. Scranton Memorial Drive at Fairfield Memorial Hospital on Friday, April 13 to raise funds to help Abby Bailey, a 21 year old Mt. Erie woman who has Ewings Sarcoma, a type of cancer that erodes the soft tissue in the bone.
The fundraiser will be held from 10:30 a.m. until they sell out of sandwiches. Bob Murphy is preparing smoked chicken, and pulled BBQ sandwiches. Sandwiches will be sold for $4 each or by donation.
Abby had surgery to remove a tumor and bone from her right hip on March 27 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She will be undergoing 13 cycles of chemotherapy once the surgical site is healed, and doctors are unsure at this time if she will have to go through radiation. She will be getting her cancer treatment at Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis. Therefore, any funds raised from the cookout will help cover travel expenses, along with the cost of treatment. Abby is currently at home recovering from the recent surgery and wearing a brace for stability.
Abby is the daughter of Rick and Jane Bailey of Mt. Erie. Abby’s mother, Jane, is a Registered Nurse who works on the Skilled Care Unit at Fairfield Memorial Hospital.
