Fairfield Memorial Hospital & Christopher Rural Health Planning Corp. Medical Staff Work Together
Fairfield Memorial Hospital (FMH) and Christopher Rural Health Planning Corporation (CRHPC) are proud to announce a joint effort to continue qualified medical staff coverage for inpatients of Fairfield Memorial Hospital. This relationship ensures that any patient receiving primary care from Horizon Healthcare providers or from SIPCA’s family medicine providers (now employed by Christopher Rural Health Planning Corporation) needing admitted to the hospital will have a trusted and reliable, local physician overseeing their care. A shared on-call coverage system among a group of family practice physicians from the two organizations makes this possible.
The physicians who have committed to sharing hospital on-call coverage for inpatients are Kyle Kakac, M.D., Marla Lafikes, M.D., Christopher Ballard, M.D., Wesley Thompson, M.D., and Steven Mitchell, M.D. General Surgeon, Patrick Molt, M.D., and the local pediatricians, Jed Jones, D.O., David Israel, D.O., and Rachel Barnhart, M.D., will continue to take hospital call on their patients. While serving on-call, all doctors will be in close contact with the patient’s primary care physician regarding the patients’ progress and ongoing health care needs.
“I am excited about this partnership which will help keep our community members close to home for care. It is a great opportunity for the all the primary care physicians to come together as one team for the benefit of the community’s health,” stated Katherine Bunting, Ph.D., FMH CEO.
Kim Mitroka, CEO of CRHPC stated, “On behalf of our medical staff at SIPCA, we believe this new joint effort will afford us the ability to better serve our patients and to focus more attention on the provision of preventive and primary care.”
The new on-call coverage system partnership will take effect June 15.
