FMH AND FCC HOSTING 5K RUN/WALK OCTOBER 13
Fairfield Memorial Hospital and Frontier Community College will be sponsoring a “Run for your life 5K,” to be held on Saturday, October 13. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. and the race starts at 8 a.m. The 5K Run/Walk will begin at Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s Medical Arts Complex with the course leading to Frontier Community College Campus and then back to FMH. Early registration is encouraged to allow ample time to order t-shirts for all participants. The registration fee is $10, and forms and fees (checks made payable to FCC) can be sent to Frontier Community College Attn: 5K Run/Walk, #2 Frontier Drive, Fairfield, IL 62837. Early registration is encouraged to allow ample time to order free t-shirts for all participants. On-site late registration will be available the morning of the race until 7:45 a.m.; however, the free t-shirt in the proper size is not guaranteed.
The “Free Student Health Class and Fun Run” that is being held in conjunction with the 5K is for students from kindergarten to fifth grade. The “Free Student Health Class” will begin at 8 a.m. and will last through the duration of the 5K Run/Walk. The class, which will be held in the FMH Medical Arts Complex Community Education Room, will teach the students about healthy lifestyle choices. Then, following the class at approximately 8:50 a.m., the students will have the opportunity to do their “Fun Run,” a short 1/2 mile run. The Fun Run course is as follows: Begin at the FMH Medical Arts Complex (exit parking lot onto 10th St.), take a left onto Mt. Vernon Road, left onto 12th St. (behind FMH), left onto Harding St., and then the students will return to the FMH Medical Arts Parking Lot from Harding St. At the end of the Fun Run, each child will be awarded a “Super Star” medal for participation. Pre-Registration is encouraged, but will also be offered the day of the race from 7 to 8 a.m.
