In celebration of National Volunteer Week, Monday evening April 16th, Fairfield Memorial Hospital honored Volunteers for their service by hosting the Annual Volunteer Recognition and Awards Dinner.  The event was held in the Fellowship Hall of the Fairfield First United Methodist Church.  Dinner was prepared and served by the Methodist Men's Group.  Spring colors and daffodils were used as table decoration.

Charlotte St. Ledger, Coordinator of Volunteers welcomed the 41 Volunteers in attendance, then introduced Larry Hobbs and one of his students, talented 13 year old Victoria Kittle, from Dundas, IL, who provided the evening’s entertainment.  Victoria an accomplished fiddle/violin player, accompanied by Larry on the piano, wowed the audience with her talents.  Victoria her mother Lisa, and Larry & Esther Hobbs were special guests for the dinner.

Prior to dinner being served, Charlotte asked for a moment of silence to remember Walt Blackburn who's funeral services were held earlier in the day.  Walt had resided on 3rd floor Skilled Care Unit since '06, was instrumental in opening Way-Fair Nursing Home, served many years on their Board of Directors, and was also instrumental in the establishment of the Hospital Foundation. He will be missed by many, including his hospital 'Family'.  Following the moment of silence, Terry Evans, Youth Minister of the Methodist Church, gave the invocation.

Following dinner introductions were made: Katherine Bunting, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer, Ann Ignas RN MSN, Chief Nurse Executive, Dana Taylor LCSW, Director of Organizational Development, and Mary Draper, Administrative Assistant.  Also Auxiliary Officers & Committee Chairs, Vice-President Shirley Byars, Treasurer Pat Vaughan, Secretary Marie Rutger, Gift Shop Chair Pat Kenshalo, Ways & Means Co-chairs Pat Vaughan & Pat Kenshalo, Historian & Scrapbook Chair Judy Gruner, Membership & Scheduling Chair Kitty Dunlap, Timekeeper Chair Rosemary Warren, Quilting Chair Wilma Myers, & Friendship Secretary Co-chairs Wandalee Triggs & Maxine Talbert, Publicity Pat Kenshalo.
