Book Fair:

Just in time for Christmas, the FMH Book Fair is back December 3rd! Mark your calendar and finish out some of your Christmas shopping with great gifts and even better deals. The Book Fair will be held December 3rd, 10:00-4:00 pm in the FMH Medical Arts Complex Education Rooms. A portion of the proceeds from this sale will benefit the SCU Activity Fund and the FMH Foundation. For more information, please call FMH Administration at (618) 847-8243.

“A Matter of Balance” Graduate Classes

Fairfield Memorial Hospital is now hosting graduate classes for follow-up exercises from the Matter of Balance program. The Matter of Balance graduate classes will be held at the FMH Educational Annex building on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11am to 12pm throughout the months of December, except the class will not meet December 24th, December 26th, and December 31st. If you are interested and want more information on how to sign up and participate in these free follow-up classes, please call FMH Therapy Department at 618-847-8256.

Fairfield Memorial Hospital to host PALS for (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) Training:

Fairfield Memorial Hospital will hold the next Pediatric Advanced Life Support class on December 5th 9a.m.   The cost is $30 for the PALS course. These classes will be held in the Medical Arts Complex Education Room. If you would like to learn more or register for the course, please contact Deb Spillman, CMSRN, FMH Clinical Practice Coordinator, at 618-847-8241. 

Multiple Sclerosis Support Group:

The Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Support Group will meet Saturday, December 7th from 11:00a.m. - Noon, located in the Harlan Yates Board Room located in the FMH Medical Arts Complex. The MS Support Group meets the first Saturday of each month.

3D Mammography Mobile Event in Carmi on December 7th:

Fairfield Memorial Hospital will have their Mobile Mammography at the Egyptian Health Department in Carmi on Saturday, December 7th, with appointments beginning at 8:00a.m. No physician order needed for those who are over the age of 40.  It must have been at least one year since your last Mammogram.  Patients are asked to bring their insurance card, photo ID, and doctor’s contact information.  This event is for annual screening Mammograms only. Individuals can call the FMH Diagnostic Imaging Department at 618-847-8249 to secure an appointment with one of FMH’s skilled technologists. Walk-Ins are also welcome until 11am. After 11am, patients will be seen by appointment only.

Cancer Support Group:

Fairfield Memorial Hospital holds a Cancer Support Group meeting once a month on the second Thursday of the each month from 6:00p.m.-7:00p.m. in the Medical Arts Complex Education Room, with the next meeting being held, Thursday, December 12th. Coffee Club:

Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s Senior Life Solutions will hold the next Coffee Club from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 12th. The Coffee Club will meet in the Fairfield Memorial Hospital Cafe and is open to anyone interested in attending. You do not have to be a participant in the Senior Life Solutions program to attend. Free blood pressure checks and refreshments will also be offered at the Coffee Club. We look forward to seeing you there!

Dementia Caregivers Support Group Meeting:

Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s Dementia Caregivers Support Group will meet on Tuesday, December 17th at 1:30pm in the Horizon Healthcare Medical Arts Complex Education Rooms.  Light refreshments will be served. These meetings will be held every 4th Thursday of the month, but due to the holidays, schedules may vary.  To learn more information about this support group, contact Mariah Minor, RN BSN, Skilled Care Unit Nurse Leader, at 618-847-8328.

Diabetes Support Group:

Join FMH on Thursday, December 19th for the Diabetes Support Group Meeting. Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s certified Diabetes Educator, Stephen Welty, RN, CDE. This month’s topic will be “What Else Affects My Blood Sugar”. These meetings are held the third Thursday of each month at the FMH Medical Arts Complex Education Room.

Sensitive Santa for Autistic and Sensory Issues Children:

Fairfield Memorial Hospital believes that Christmas time should be a special time for all children and each year we host a Sensitive Santa event for children with sensory issues and/or Autism. These children will be able to visit Santa and have their photo taken for free in a sensory-friendly area in the FMH Medical Arts Complex on Saturday, December 21st from 9am-2pm. Space is limited so pre-registration is required. To schedule your child's session call 618-847-8243.

Better Breathers Club:

The Better Breathers Club will not be meet in December. The next meeting of the Better Breathers Club will be held on Monday, January 20th at 3pm in the Medical Arts Complex Education Room. Light refreshments will be served for the next meeting of the Better Breathers Club. If you, or someone you know, is living with a chronic lung disease, such as, COPD (which includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis) pulmonary fibrosis or lung cancer, consider joining us at this welcoming support group. CPR Classes:

Fairfield Memorial Hospital holds free CPR Classes monthly on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 9:30a.m in the 2nd Floor Education Room.  You must pre-register by calling 618-847-8367.  The next available CPR class is January 8, 2020.
