FMH DONATES TO FCHS STUDENT TO ATTEND MEDICAL FORUM
Fairfield Memorial Hospital has donated $1,000 in scholarship funds to Quade Harvey, son of Carol Vanway and Richard Harvey, to help cover tuition fees to attend National Youth Leadership Forums on Medicine to be held this summer in Chicago, IL. Quade was nominated to attend this Forum by the National Research Center for College and University Admissions, which introduces students to certain colleges. The invitation was based upon his exemplary academic record, leadership potential and interest in the field of medicine.
By attending the Forum on Medicine, students gain insight into the challenges and rewards of a medical career. Harvey is part of a very select group of high school scholars that will be welcomed at some of the Nation’s most prominent and technologically-advanced medical institutions and schools. During the ten days of firsthand experience, Harvey will examine state-of-the-art diagnostic tools and future medical specialties in detail. He will meet and interact with some of our nation’s most distinguished medical leaders and research pioneers – visionaries and practitioners in the field of medicine whose dedication and ability have brought them to the top of their profession. Perhaps most importantly, as a Forum on medicine scholar, he will discover valuable new perspectives regarding a career in the medical field, and will be able to apply those perspectives toward any career he may be considering and the success he dreams of achieving.
At the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine, Harvey will meet and interact with high-achieving students from all over the U.S. and develop friendships that will last long after the completion of the Forum. Upon his return home, Harvey will be inspired and motivated to take the next step to further his interest in the field of medicine and reach his career goals. At this time, Harvey plans to attend medical school with a focus in Diagnostic Imaging.
Katherine Bunting, Ph.D., FMH CEO, stated, “We are very pleased to provide support to future medical leaders and believe that this opportunity is priceless for students who want to venture into the medical field.”
“I appreciate Kathy Bunting’s help last summer in setting up a wonderful job shadowing opportunity in the Diagnostic Imaging Department at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. I also want to thank the staff who spent their time in showing me what Diagnostic Imaging is truly about. The staff at Fairfield Memorial Hospital was truly inspirational. Today, the hospital is helping me again by providing me this scholarship to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine, which will further educate me on the opportunities available in the future,” stated Quade Harvey.
