FMH OCTOBER CALENDAR OF EVENTS

CPR Classes:

Fairfield Memorial Hospital holds free CPR Classes monthly on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 9:30a.m in the 2nd Floor Education Room.  You must pre-register by calling 618-847-8367.  This month’s CPR class scheduled for Wednesday, October 2nd.

Fairfield Memorial Hospital to host PALS for (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) Training:

Fairfield Memorial Hospital will hold the next Pediatric Advanced Life Support class on October 3rd at 9a.m.   The cost is $35 for the PALS course.  Should a CPR card be needed, there will be an additional $15 charge. These classes will be held in the Medical Arts Complex Education Room. If you would like to learn more or register for the course, please contact Deb Spillman, CMSRN, FMH Clinical Practice Coordinator, at 618-847-8241.  Upcoming scheduled dates for Advanced Cardiac Life Support ($35 class fee): November 5th, January 21st, March 17th and May 12th. Future class dates for Pediatric Advanced Life Support classes are as follows: December 5th, February 18th, April 14th and June 23rd.   Please register at least one week prior to class, if possible.

Multiple Sclerosis Support Group:

The Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Support Group meeting will be Saturday, October 5th from 11:00am-Noon, located in the Harlan Yates Board Room located in the FMH Medical Arts Complex. The MS Support Group meets the first Saturday of each month. For more information please contact Carol Anne Greenwood RN BSN at FMH by calling 618-847-8253.

Cancer Care Support Group:

Fairfield Memorial Hospital Cancer Support meeting will be held on Thursday, October 10th. Fairfield Memorial Hospital holds a Cancer Support Group meeting once a month on the second Thursday of the each month from 6:00p.m.-7:00p.m. in the Medical Arts Complex Education Room. Book Fair:

The Book Fair is back October 10th! Mark your calendar and get an early start on your Christmas shopping with great gifts and even better deals. The Book Fair will be held October 10th, 10:00-4:00 pm in the FMH Medical Arts Complex Education Rooms. A portion of the proceeds from this sale will benefit the SCU Activity Fund and the FMH Foundation. For more information, please call (618) 847-8243.

3D Mammography Mobile Event in Carmi on October 12th:

Fairfield Memorial Hospital will have their Mobile Mammography at the Egyptian Health Department in Carmi on Saturday, October 12th, with appointments beginning at 8:00a.m. No physician order needed for those who are over the age of 40.  It must have been at least one year since your last Mammogram.  Patients are asked to bring their insurance card, photo ID, and doctor’s contact information.  This event is for annual screening Mammograms only. Individuals can call the FMH Diagnostic Imaging Department at 618-847-8249 to secure an appointment with one of FMH’s skilled technologists. Walk-Ins are also welcome until 11am. After 11am, patients will be seen by appointment only.

Diabetes Support Group:

Join FMH on Thursday, October 17th for the Diabetes Support Group Meeting with Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s Certified Diabetes Educator, Stephen Welty, RN, CDE. This month’s topic will be “Meal Planning and Holiday Preparation”. These meetings are held the third Thursday of each month at 4:00p.m.in the FMH Medical Arts Complex Education Room. First Aid/CPR Class:

Fairfield Memorial Hospital is offering First Aid/CPR Certification to the public free of charge. The class will be held on October 17th from 10am - 2pm in the FMH Education Annex Building (former Union Hall) located at 203 NW 10th Street in Fairfield. For more information or to pre-register call (618) 847-8367. Pre-registration is required.  Future date for the First Aid/CPR Class is November 13th.

Coffee Club:

Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s Senior Life Solutions will hold the next Coffee Club from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. on October 17th. The Coffee Club will meet in the Fairfield Memorial Hospital Cafe and is open to anyone that would like to attend. You do not have to be a participant in the Senior Life Solutions program to attend. Free blood pressure checks and refreshments will also be offered at the Coffee Club. We look forward to seeing you there!

Shriners Free Screening Clinic:

The Wayne County Shriners is offering a FREE screening clinic for children with bone, muscle, or joint problems on October 17th from 4:30pm - 6pm at Horizon Healthcare Fairfield Medical Clinic at 213 NW 10th St. Ste A  -  Fairfield IL 62837.  The screening clinic will look for some of these signs; bowed legs or knocked knees, sore, painful, or stiff joints, knee, elbow, or shoulder injuries, curved spine, hip problems, in-toeing, toe-walking, flat feet or clubfoot.  For more information on The Shriners Screening Clinic please call: 618-516-1746.

Reduced Lab Testing Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s Laboratory Department October 14th  – October 19th:

Fairfield Memorial Hospital will be holding a Reduced Cost Lab Testing day on Monday, October 14th through Saturday, October 19th from 7:00 a.m. to 10 a.m. at FMH Laboratory Department. No appointment needed. 

The following tests will be offered:

Glucose (Blood Sugar) $10 | Hemoglobin A1c (Diabetic Monitor) $20 | Lipid Panel (Cholesterol, Triglycerides, HDL, LDL, and VLDL) $20 | PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) $20 | Thyroid Function Panel (T4, Free T3, Free T4, TSH) $35 | General Health Profile (Includes CBC, Lipid Screen, and a 12 test chemistry profile) $35 | Vitamin D Test $35

If you are interested, go directly to the FMH Laboratory Department located in Fairfield Memorial Hospital at 303 NW 11th St, Fairfield, IL 62837. Patients should not have food or drink after midnight and payment is due at the time of service.  Results of the test will be mailed directly to the patient’s home. Better Breathers Club:

Join FMH on Monday, October 21st for the next meeting of the Better Breathers Club. If you, or someone you know, is living with a chronic lung disease, such as, COPD (which includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis) pulmonary fibrosis or lung cancer, consider joining us at this welcoming support group. Learn better ways to cope with your diagnosis and live life to the fullest. Family Physician Nicole Fyie, MD will be discussing “COPD Treatment” on October 21st at 3pm in the Medical Arts Complex Education Room. FMH Horizon Healthcare Grayville Medical Clinic One Year Anniversary Celebration

Fairfield Memorial Hospital will be celebrating Horizon Healthcare Grayville Medical Clinic’s One Year Anniversary on October 23rd, 2019.  The celebration will be held from 2pm to 5pm at the FMH Horizon Healthcare Grayville Clinic, which is located at 319 W Commerce Street in Grayville, Illinois.

FMH Administration would like to invite the public to join our staff for this celebration. During the celebration, visitors will be able to tour our modern, comfortable exam rooms and meet the staff that work at the Grayville Clinic. Light refreshments will be served. We will also be giving away several door prizes from local businesses and one grand prize for a lucky winner. The drawings for the door prizes and grand prize will be held at 5pm but you do not have to be present to win.

Dementia Caregivers Support Group:

Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s Dementia Caregivers Support Group will meet on October 24th at 1:30pm in the Horizon Healthcare Medical Arts Complex Education Rooms.  Light refreshments will be served. 5K Trick or Trot/Kids Fun Run/Pancake Breakfast:

Save the Date for the 2nd Annual FMH 5K Trick or Trot/Kids Fun Run! It will be held on Saturday, October 26th starting at 8a.m.

The FMH Foundation will be hosting an all you can eat pancake-sausage-tang breakfast from 8am-10am during this event. Tickets are $6.00 per person and can be purchased from Administration, Foundation Office, or any Foundation member.

We will also have many family fun events to go along with this race so bring out your family and friends and enjoy all of the family friendly activities we will be providing! Online registration for the 5K is available at www.tothefinishtiming.com/FMHT or you can stop by Fairfield Memorial Hospital to complete a form. Fairfield Memorial Hospital to host 2 Day PALS for (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) Training:

Fairfield Memorial Hospital will hold a 2 Day Pediatric Advanced Life Support classes on October 28th and October 29th from 9a.m. to 5p.m.   The cost is $35 for the PALS course.  Should a CPR card be needed, there will be an additional $15 charge.
