JOB SUMMARY:
Provides direct and indirect, as well as restorative, resident patient care under the direction of Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. Assists residents with activities of daily living, provides for personal care, comfort and assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment for an assigned group of residents. Performs any combination of the following duties in care of patients in an extended care facility under the direction of nursing staff: Answers call lights, assists in bathing, dressing and undressing patients, serves and collects food trays, feeds patients, transports patients using a wheelchair or geriatric chair, assists patients in walking and transferring, turns and repositions bedfast patients, changes bed linens, takes and records blood pressure, temperature, pulse and respiration, monitors food and fluid intake and output, and cleans patient rooms.
Training Required / Safety Programs
This job requires certification and training in the Certified Nursing Assistant program. Employees in this field are required to attend an orientation process that involves proper lifting and transferring techniques and ergonomic training for safe handling of patients. Basic Cardiac Life Support certification required within three (3) months of hire.
