CONTROLLER & BUSINESS OFFICE DIRECTOR

Nature of Work: Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller & Business Office Director is responsible for motivating and leading employees to accomplish organizational and departmental goals, achieve high levels of production in all areas, and maintain high work standards. The Director must make critical decisions when dealing with patients, insurance companies, employees, and other contacts. This position requires working knowledge of all aspects of hospital reimbursements, billings and collections, cash postings, credit balances, Medicare and Medicaid regulations and guidelines. In addition, the Director is responsible for maintaining and updating the chargemaster, continually evaluating CPT codes, HCPCS codes utilized based on additions, and definition changes or deletions. This position works closely with various hospital departments on utilizing Revenue codes, CPT & HCPS codes, appropriate pricing, and denials/rejection issues related to chargemaster elements. The Director overseas all activities of the Admissions/Registration Department, including all patient admission, registration and associated activities. The Director is also responsible for the Hospital Financial Assistance Program. Additionally, the position is responsible for accurate general ledger postings and reconciliations, payroll preparation, rules, and regulations, and assists the CFO in preparing the annual budget.

Education: Associate degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience: A minimum of two years managerial experience in a similar position in Revenue Cycle or Accounting within a hospital or health system. Must have effective communication skills and be detail-oriented. Working knowledge of all aspects of hospital reimbursements, billings and collections, cash postings, credit balances, Medicare and Medicaid regulations, CPT/HCPS, and GAAP.

Skills: Team player willing to assist in meeting organizational goals. Excellent keyboarding, communication skills and customer-oriented in approach to others. Ability to work in a fast paced environment required.

Requirements: Excellent attendance, punctuality and work record required. Self-motivated in setting goals for receivables and streamlining processes. Ability to plan and prioritize one’s own work in addition to the work of others.
