Multiple Sclerosis Support Group:
The Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Support Group will meet Saturday, March 7th from 11:00a.m. - Noon, located in the Harlan Yates Board Room located in the FMH Medical Arts Complex. The MS Support Group meets the first Saturday of each month. For more information about this support group, contact Carol Anne Greenwood RN BSN at 618-847-8253.
3D Mammography Mobile Event in Carmi on March 7th:
Fairfield Memorial Hospital will have their Mobile Mammography at the Egyptian Health Department in Carmi on Saturday, March 7th, with appointments beginning at 8:00a.m. No physician order needed for those who are over the age of 40. It must have been at least one year since your last Mammogram. Patients are asked to bring their insurance card, photo ID, and doctor’s contact information. This event is for annual screening Mammograms only. Individuals can call the FMH Diagnostic Imaging Department at 618-847-8249 to secure an appointment with one of FMH’s skilled technologists. Walk-Ins are also welcome until 11am. After 11am, patients will be seen by appointment only.
Adult Mental Health First Aid Training March 9th
As part of its ongoing community education initiative efforts, Fairfield Memorial Hospital will be offering free Adult Mental Health First Aid for Public Safety training for Fire and EMS personnel. This training will provide more response options to help de-escalate incidents and better understand mental illnesses in adults so fire and EMS personnel can respond to mental health-related situations appropriately without compromising safety. Training sessions for Adult Mental Health First Aid are one day, 8 hour courses, that Fairfield Memorial Hospital will be offering free of charge to public safety personnel. The class will be held on Monday, March 9th starting at 8am. To register for this class or for more information, contact FMH Administration at 618-847-8243.
First Aid/CPR Class:
Fairfield Memorial Hospital is offering First Aid/CPR Certification to the public free of charge. The class will be held on March 11th from 9:30am to 1:30pm in the FMH Education Annex Building (former Union Hall) located at 203 NW 10th Street. Cancer Support Group:
Fairfield Memorial Hospital hosts a Cancer Support Group meeting once a month on the second Thursday of the each month from 6:00p.m.-7:00p.m. in the Medical Arts Complex Education Room, with the next meeting being held, Thursday, March 12th. These meetings are open to anyone affected by cancer. For more information about this Support Group please contact 618-847-8243.
Better Breathers Club:
The next meeting of the Better Breathers Club will be held on Monday, March 16th at 3:00pm in the Medical Arts Complex Education Room. Light refreshments will be served for the next meeting of the Better Breathers Club. The speaker will be Ross Herdes APN, FNP speaking on emergencies and exacerbations, when to call 911 and what to do. If you, or someone you know, is living with a chronic lung disease, such as, COPD (which includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis) pulmonary fibrosis or lung cancer, consider joining us at this welcoming support group. Fairfield Memorial Hospital to host ACLS for (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Training:
Fairfield Memorial Hospital will hold the next Advanced Cardiac Life Support class on March 17th at 9a.m. The cost is $30 for the ACLS course. These classes will be held in the Medical Arts Complex Education Room. If you would like to learn more or register for the course, please contact Deb Spillman, CMSRN, FMH Clinical Practice Coordinator, at 618-847-8241. Upcoming scheduled dates for Pediatric Advanced Life Support: April 14th, June 23rd, August 18th, October 13th and December 8th. Future class dates for Advanced Cardiac Life Support classes are as follows: May 12th, July 6th, September 15th and November 23rd. Please register at least one week prior to class, if possible.
Diabetes Support Group:
Join FMH on Thursday, March 19th for the Diabetes Support Group Meeting. Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s certified Diabetes Educator, Stephen Welty, RN, CDE. This month’s topic will be “Coping with Emotions”. These meetings are held the third Thursday of each month at 4:00p.m. in the FMH Medical Arts Complex Education Room. Coffee Club:
Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s Senior Life Solutions will hold the next Coffee Club from 9:30am – 10:30am on Thursday, March 19th. The Coffee Club will meet in the Fairfield Memorial Hospital Cafe and is open to anyone interested in attending. This is a great opportunity to get together with other people in the community in a social atmosphere. You do not have to be a participant in the Senior Life Solutions program to attend. Free blood pressure checks and refreshments will also be offered at the Coffee Club. We look forward to seeing you there! Dementia Caregivers Support Group Meeting:
Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s Dementia Caregivers Support Group will meet on Thursday, March 26th at 1:30pm in the Horizon Healthcare Medical Arts Complex Education Rooms. Light refreshments will be served. These meetings will be held every 4th Thursday of the month. Reduced Lab Testing Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s Laboratory Department March 23rd – March 28th:
Fairfield Memorial Hospital will be holding a Reduced Cost Lab Testing day on Monday, March 23rd through Saturday, March 28th from 7:00 a.m. to 10 a.m. at FMH Laboratory Department. No appointment needed.
The following tests will be offered:
Hemoglobin A1c (Diabetic Monitor) $20 | Lipid Panel (Cholesterol, Triglycerides, HDL, LDL, and VLDL) $20 | PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) $20 | Thyroid Function Panel (T4, Free T3, Free T4, TSH) $40 | General Health Profile (Includes CBC, Lipid Screen, and a 12 test chemistry profile) $40 | Vitamin D Test $40
If you are interested, go directly to the FMH Laboratory Department located in Fairfield Memorial Hospital at 303 NW 11th St, Fairfield, IL 62837. Patients should not have food or drink after midnight and payment is due at the time of service. Results of the test will be mailed directly to the patient’s home. Fairfield Memorial Hospital will be holding a Reduced Cost Lab Testing day on Monday, March 23rd - Wednesday, March 25th – Friday, March 27th from 7:00 a.m. to 9 a.m. at FMH Albion Lab Draw Station at the Edwards Co. Health Department. No appointment needed.

Book Fair:
The Book Fair is back March 31st! Mark your calendar and come shop for great deals! The Book Fair will be held March 31st, 10:00am-4:00 pm in the FMH Medical Arts Complex Education Rooms. Blood Drive to be held on April 14th:
Fairfield Memorial Hospital will be hosting a blood drive for the public on April 14th. Give the gift of life!
