FMH Auxiliary Purchases Ultrasound/Electrical Stimulation Combination Unit for FMH Therapy Department
Fairfield Memorial Hospital Auxiliary recently purchased a new ultrasound/electrical stimulation combination unit for the FMH Therapy Department. This purchase has improved efficiency and prevents wait times for an available machine to complete therapy treatment for patients.
Ultrasound used in therapy is not diagnostic, but therapeutic, using high-frequency sound waves to produce vibration and heat that can warm deep fluid-filled tissue to speed healing and assist with decreasing inflammation from things such as tendonitis and bursitis and it helps to promote relaxation of spasming muscles. The electrical stimulation portion of the machine has multiple settings that provide pain relief or assist with muscle contractions after injury or surgery.
“We are thrilled to have this new piece of equipment that allows us to care for our patients more efficiently. We are so thankful to our FMH Auxiliary for purchasing this much-needed equipment.” Stated Jennifer Bowers, PTA, Therapy Services Director.
