Diagnostic Imaging
Fairfield Memorial Hospital has a number of accomplished Registered Radiographers on staff to provide you or your loved ones with around-the-clock diagnostic imaging. FMH is equipped with a Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS), which allows specialists the ability to easily consult with the radiologist and family physician.
Digital Imaging
Digital imaging is based on the PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications System) concept. In the PACS concept, images from Image Acquisition Modalities (such as MRI, CT scanners or traditional X-Rays) are digitized and stored on an Image Server, which is accessed on the hospital’s network for viewing and managing patient information and images. By utilizing the information technology of PACS, it is now possible to capture, diagnose, review, and archive medical images in a fraction of the time.
Learn More about Radiation
Diagnostic Imaging is a valuable tool that helps save lives and is composed of a variety of modalities such as X-Ray, CT, MRI, Fluoroscopy, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, PET scan, 3D Mammography, and DEXA. There is, however, a risk for images requiring the use of ionizing radiation. These studies can be performed in a variety of settings (Hospital, Imaging Clinic, Dentist, Chiropractor, or your Physician’s office). It is important that you and your Physician be aware of what studies you have had, when, and where they were performed. This may prevent the need for repeated testing, save you from exposure to unnecessary radiation and aid our team in tracking your exposure to ionizing radiation.
